Apartment UHN
Appartement UHN is a minimalist residence located in Beijing, China. The studio reimagined the 200-square-meter apartment to emphasize openness and natural light, offering expansive views of the city. This transformation was accomplished by redesigning the interior layout, replacing traditional walls with sliding and pivoting doors. These adaptable partitions allow the space to shift between private, enclosed areas and open, connected environments—enabling residents to either retreat or engage with the urban landscape. The architectural strategy responds to the client’s request for a layout that maximizes shared living spaces while minimizing conventional hallways. The design introduces flexible living concepts by eliminating non-structural barriers. Existing partitions were removed, and space was reallocated around structural elements such as columns and beams. Minimalist, clean-lined carpentry supports the essence of the redesign. Natural light floods the apartment through strategically positioned bay windows on the north and south façades, strengthening the interior’s relationship with the surrounding city.
